Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell Assembles Another Stellar Schedule for 2013

Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th October 2013, London’s ExCeL Exhibition Centre, E16

The world’s largest festival to celebrate rum and Caribbean culture has revealed the details of its coveted seminar and masterclass programme today. The two-day event, which was founded and is curated by Global Rum Ambassador Ian Burrell, will once again play host to a stellar schedule of talks, demonstrations and activities from some of the world’s most respected rum brands, ambassadors and academics. Novices, connoisseurs and plain ol’ rum lovers will be able to enjoy informative and entertaining seminars hosted by the likes of Mount Gay and Angostura. In addition to these seminars, and providing UK RumFest with one of its defining features, are the carefully orchestrated masterclasses showcasing a number of innovative ideas such as a specially selected cigar and rum masterclass courtesy of Amathus Drinks and C-Gars Ltd who will be showcasing their Regius blend. All of this is topped off with a carnival atmosphere, professional samba and souk dancers, a scrumptious tropical food market and cocktails to-die-for, making the UK RumFest the warmer place to be this winter. For more information and a rundown of events visit The Rum Experience website.

As well as showcasing over 400 of the world’s rums under one roof, UK RumFest prides itself on not just entertaining revellers but educating them too. This year and with the introduction of the two-tiered ticketing system, both connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts will have the chance to indulge in as much or as little sugar cane spirit culture as they wish. Over 20 seminars will take place across the weekend, including a delicious Caymanas rum cake seminar hosted by Jonathan McCulloch, who will let audiences into the secret of how to make his popular rum cake. Not only this, but brands such as Havana Club will be bringing their Mojito Embassy to the festival, teaching fans how to make the perfect, authentic Cuban Mojito using only the finest natural ingredients – a surefire hit for this popular drink! There will also be a Diplomatico tasting taking place on Saturday 12th with Master Blender Tito Cordero, which will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis on the day.

The Coco Re’al and Pusser’s Rum main stage will be a hub of action over the weekend with a series of Cocktail Mix Demonstrations presented by The A Team De Kuyper using Woods 100 y/old Navy Rum and O.V.D Scotland’s favourite dark rum. Finger nails will also be bitten as some of the world’s top mixologists battle it out to be crowned winners of the ultimate cocktail concoction. Additionally, renowned celebrity Chef Hasan de Four will play the perfect host in the food demonstration area with live cooking demos throughout the day – the mouthwatering exotic creations being the perfect balance to a day of rum tasting.

The Rum Experience University Masterclasses conducted by industry experts and master blenders top off a diverse and extensive rum program. As well as an afternoon of luxurious rum and cigar pairing, aficionados can learn and create the perfect rum and chocolate match hosted by Havana Club and Rococo Chocolatiers. Plus, new for 2013, the more unusual marshmallow pairing by the delectable The Marshmallowists.

With rum sampling, cocktail shaking, show spectating and food pairing, UK RumFest is the premier drinks event that endeavours to take attendees on a journey of rum discovery.
