W London – Leicester Square has teamed up with W Hotels Designer of the Future, Bethan Laura Wood, to create a pioneering cocktail experience in celebration of the London Design Festival taking place in the capital this September. The cocktail is inspired by Mexican Cachetada lollipops – a traditional Mexican candy – which come in a variety of tropical flavours and luminescent colours.
Working with W London’s mixologist, Danilo Lanteri, and sugar specialist Fernando Laposse, Bethan’s jewel-bright lollipops are a modern twist on this sweet treat. As thin as glass, brightly coloured and flexible, the finely spun, flavoured sugar stick is folded before being submerged into a blend of Aloe Vera and Tequila. As the sugar stock dissolves, it infuses with the spirit to create extraordinary flavours and an unexpected drinking experience. From the floral notes of the hibiscus flower to the fiery hints of chilli, each Cachetada has an unusual flavour combination that will challenge discerning drinkers’ preconceptions of a cocktail.
The Cachetada cocktail sticks will be available in a choice of four complementary flavours including:
AMARILLO/YELLOW– Orange and Chile de Arbol lolly, stirred into a blend of tequila and aloe vera, served with Orange zest in a Chile de Arbol-rimmed glass
VERDE/GREEN – Lemongrass, Acacia leaves and Ancho chilli lolly, stirred into a blend of tequila and aloe vera, served with powdered lemongrass and hibiscus flowers in an Ancho chilli-rimmed glass
VIOLETA/PURPLE – Lavender and Cascabel chilli lolly, stirred into a blend of tequila and aloe vera, served with crushed lavender in a Cascabel chilli-rimmed glass
Following its launch at Bethan Laura Wood’s debut show at London Design Festival show, the Cachetada cocktail will be available in the W Lounge at W London – Leicester Square from 19th September – 10th October 2013, priced at £12.80. For more information visit: http://www.wlondon.co.uk.
