Shake Up Your Shop and Check Out A Cocktail With Kitchen Cocktail’s Supermarket Sweep Pop-Up

In the words of the late, great national treasure, Dale Winton “the next time you’re at the checkout and you hear the beep, think of the fun you could be having on Supermarket Sweep!”. This month London Cocktail Club’s world renowned bartender, JJ Goodman, will be stepping out from behind the bar to the check-out to celebrate his new step-by-step cocktail book Kitchen Cocktails, showcasing how delicious cocktails can be made using simple, supermarket ingredients.

Located on the ground floor of London Cocktail Club Shoreditch, the pop-up supermarket aisles, packed with classic everyday items from Coco Pops to bacon, will see ticket-goers race against the clock to gather the ingredients and inflatables to create their cocktail of choice and score one of the ‘cocktail-hack’ prizes. Tickets will be available from Design My Night for £30.00 per person, which includes three cocktails and an enormous amount of fun; you can book for groups of up to 20 between 12pm – 9pm daily, from Saturday 1 December 2018 – Saturday 23 February 2019.

Guests will walk through the doors of the Cocktail Kitchen pop-up and meet JJ and the team with a cocktail on arrival. Once divided into teams, competitors will don their 90s-style primary colour jumpers before selecting their preferred cocktail from the Kitchen Cocktails book.

Raring to go,shopping basket in hand, they will then set off to the sound of an airhorn on a timed spin around the aisles of the Cocktail Kitchen supermarket to collect the ingredients needed for their drink of choice, battling it out to take the win. Combining elements from two of the UK’s most beloved tv shows, guests will be able to secure bonus prizes by spinning a Cocktail Wheel of Fortune and stuffing their baskets with the corresponding novelty inflatables.

Upon check out, challengers will take their shopping bags to the set-up kitchen area where LCC’s team of bartenders will be on-hand to guide budding mixologists on how to create incredible cocktails using the very simple ingredients gathered in the aisles.

Available from for RRP £29.99, Kitchen Cocktails is the essential Christmas gift for cocktail lovers across the country looking to shake up winter warmers at home. As the festive party season (and supermarket shop) approaches, the time is ripe to join the revolution.

They’re Back . . . . . Again

The Liverpool Sessions

After an 8 month hiatus, The London Sessions are back. This time they’re taking to the streets (and bars) of Liverpool for what they’re pretty sure is their 28th session… It’s hard to keep track. From 12pm – 4pm on October 26th, you’ll be treated to three sessions in one day alongside BBQ and cocktails courtesy of Jack Daniel’s, with a not-so-little announcement at the end. Sound familiar? Think Glasgow 2016. Following in the footsteps of such luminaries as Gary Regan, Ivy Mix, and Dale DeGroff, they’re proud to introduce their speakers – Erik Lorincz, JJ Goodman & Cam Dawson, speaking on Creativity, Entrepreneurialism, Consistency and Quality.

No stranger to the sessions, this will be Erik’s third session with them and you know what they say about third time lucky. As well as being one of the most charming and charismatic people, Erik is the current (11th) Head Bartender at The American Bar at The Savoy and has picked up two coveted Spirited Awards for Best International Bartender 2011 and Best International Bar Team 2016, and was shortlisted for Best International Bartender 2017 (he was robbed). Erik recently flexed his creative muscles to launch his own line of cocktail shakers with Tetsuya Yokoyam ‘Birdy by Erik Lorincz’ and when he’s not behind the bar he can be found presenting on Jamie Oliver’s Drinks Tube, or traveling the world. Honestly, we can’t keep track. Accordingly, Erik’s session will be centered around Creativity.

Next up, as seen on TV…. JJ Goodman opened his first bar at the age of 24 in 2008 and has since opened seven cocktail bars under the London Cocktail Club umbrella, so who better to conduct our talk on entrepreneurialism? A seasoned professional, JJ won Best Bartender at the 42 Below Cocktail World Cup in 2008, is one of London Lifestyle Award’s 50 Most Influential People and was named as one of Zagat’s 30 under 30 in 2009. JJ won the BBC TV show The Restaurant which secured him a business partnership with BBC Dragon Sarah Willingham and Chef Raymond Blanc OBE. When he’s not busy running his empire, JJ works alongside The Prince’s Trust, Springboard UK and the British Institute of Innkeeping (BII), aiming to develop a community resource within the hospitality industry. Smart and Charitable, what more could you want?

Last but not least, Cam Dawson’s ten year career in the drinks industry has seen him work in a variety of Pubs, Clubs and Cocktail Bars around the world. Although originally from Stirling in Scotland, Cam learned his trade in Perth, Australia before returning to his adoptive home of Brighton, where he works as the Jack Daniel’s UK Brand Ambassador. In short, there’s nothing he doesn’t know about JD and the half a billion bottles maturing in Lynchburg as we speak. Have a burning question? This is your opportunity to ask it. Cam’s session will focus on consistency and quality.

As always, sessions are free to attend but are strictly RSVP only. RSVP’s open on Monday September 11th from midday. Email to secure your space. Remember, sessions book up quick, so set your alarms, pull an all nighter, or be smart and schedule an email. Whatever you need to do.

The Underground Punch Pong League – Coming to a City Near You

London Cocktail Club founder, JJ Goodman , has teamed up with Monin UK to launch a national competition like no other – the Underground Punch Pong League (UPPL).

The UPPL is free to enter, and kicks off with the Monin Bartenders’ Challenge Cup; a ‘battle of the bars’ which will travel to 12 locations around the country throughout September.

At each regional heat, eight bars will select a team of two bartenders to represent them. The UK bar scene’s most creative bartenders will compete against each other in a ‘beer pong’-style tournament, with one difference – the beer is replaced with delicious punch. Each team will draw a Monin syrup flavour at random, which they must then use as the foundation for creating their signature recipe.

The successful teams will compete for a coveted place in the grand final at the Covent Garden Cocktail Club during London Cocktail Week, on Monday 7 October.

As well as eternal fame and glory, the winning team will also bag a day trip to Paris for four, where they can visit some of the world’s greatest cocktail bars and sample some fantastic French food.

James Coston, Monin’s UK brand ambassador, said: “We’re really excited to be supporting the UPPL. The Monin Bartenders’ Challenge Cup is a great opportunity for bartenders to have fun and show how creative they can be with their punch recipes – and of course, an opportunity to be crowned UPPL MONIN Bartenders’ Challenge Cup Champions during London Cocktail Week!”

JJ Goodman said: “The UPPL is the first of its kind destined for world domination. In true LCC style, any bar is welcome to sign up, and the Monin Bartenders’ Challenge Cup will separate the weak from the strong.”
